Covo Trattoria

On the 4th or 5th attempt to get there we manage to do it. It is on 12th Av and almost corner with the river level 135th Street. I was looking forward for this place since it is a Pizza place and I have been lately carving for Pizza. Despite the service, the pizza is well balanced. Vala had a Treviso, which had Gorgonzola, Mozzarella, onions and garlic (lots of them); the bread is very well baked, crispy a little burned spots and soft in the middle. I had the Margherita, the sauce was great, not over cooked and some under tones of fresh tomato. I would have add some more cheese though, maybe because is the cheapest one, they scale the price with the amount of cheese. WARNING, the Margherita was marked as 7.95 and they charged us 8.95, they also gave us wrong the change. It might have been that particular waiter, but as I said, despite the service, the food is pretty good.
Note: as you come to the table they bring fresh bread and some tomato sauce with olives and a touch of --great-- olive oil.

Tomo

Sushi restaurant on Broadway, East side, between 110th and 111th. We went with Erna and her family, Binna and Herdis. I had a no-raw-fish bento box with california roll, tempura and beef negimaki. The beef was not really good, but the roll and tempura were tasty. Angel had tuna roll and yellowtail roll which apparently were good, small but very neatly done. The sushi came in one piece portions and the salmon was yummy, but the "white fish" was not great. I like this place.. I'm looking forward to being able to eat sushi again!

Hunan Balcony

A chinese restaurant on Broadway and 98th, east side. Went with Byrdie and speaker Andy Frassetto. I was too full after lunch, and got some fish free sushi, all right. They got general something pork, and they were happy, but somehow didn't smell great.. I wasn't too impressed, but still ok. Medium priced, but nice seats by the window.

Greek Village

A fairly small restaurant on 303 in NJ (drive Oak Tree Road, take a left on 303, keep going a few lights, it is on the right). I got a gyro pita (6$) and brought a shrimp pita back to Angel. The place was a little full, and we had to wait a bit, but the food was really good, and cheap. Will definitely go again.

Paprika

Sort of Italian restaurant with a great early dinner deal: $15 for a main dish and a salad/soup. The fish seemed to be very good. Vala got some linguine with asparagus and shrimp in a white sauce which was quite "floury". Angel got the gnocci which for my taste was overcooked. The leftovers were excellent the day after. This place has an octopus salad with potatoes, this one is pretty good. Remarkable is the bread as well, but careful is $3 if you ask for extra bread.

cafe (Amsterdam between 122 & 123)

We went to get some dinner with Gerda. The place was a bit cold looking and had few guests, but I was totally tempted by the option of having crepes. I had one with brie and apples, and it was good, but a little on the small side.. Angel had the ratatoille one, and I didn't like it at all. Gerda had the burger and it looked yummy! next time forget the crepes and get a burger.. or go somewhere else. crepes 8$.
